陈先生的照片不单单是纯粹的风光再现，而更多的是追求一种表象之后的意境。
另外，关注陈先生的人会发现，陈先生最近出版的一本画册《滇南印记》更加是系统的走向了一个新的表达方向，无论从这本画册中陈先生的镜头所关注的对象，还有最终画面的表现形式。
目前《滇南印记》的展览正在北京的陈长芬艺术馆展出，所有的作品全部打印输出，输出的介质非常特别，不是传统的纸张，而是输出在了绢上面，展现出了完全另样的视觉效果。
“这是一部关于一百年前铁路的故事，它和它的建设者们随着光阴的流逝几乎在人们的记忆中消失。但是，当现代社会的理智撩开这层历史的迷雾时，令人吃惊的是，这条在今天似乎并不起眼的米轨铁路，近七年的工程使一万两千条生命埋葬在这465公里长的铁路线上，其中一万多个英灵留在了南溪河谷，为这条铁路远涉重洋来到这里的法国人和其他欧洲人中也有许多人再也没有能够重返他们的故土。
“滇南印记”摄影展和画册通过艺术家陈长芬先生的视角和感受来体现在云南南部崇山峻岭中蛇行盘桓的列车和钢轨，沿线的城镇和百姓，大自然的无情和魅力。滇越铁路在艺术家的眼里，它似乎是两把冰凉的钢刀，刻录下了滇南地区真实而令人回味的百年演变；因此，陈长芬先生的摄影机前的滇越铁路从历史中向现实走来，从蔚蓝的西域向红土地靠拢。”
关于陈长芬
陈长芬在多数摄影人尤其是不很了解他的人的印象中，只是一个风光摄影师，其实不完全是这样。
早在８０年代，陈先生的《日月》就代表了一种高度。陈先生除了风光之外的许多片子，已经透露出了他凌驾于画面表象的一些思考。
陈长芬简历
1941年出生于中国湖南省。
1959年开始从事摄影。
1965年开始拍摄长城至今。
1980年，《中国民航》航机杂志主要创刊人之一，后曾任该杂志的副总编；
1987年6月在中国美术馆举办《陈长芬艺术摄影作品展》；
1987年9月中国人民美术出版社出版 《中国摄影家陈长芬作品集》；
1987年《关山万里》作为封面照片，获端士图形摄影87年鉴 (GRAPHICPHOTO'87)专业摄影最佳奖；
1988年2月，中国摄影家协会首次举办陈长芬摄影艺术研讨会；
1989年8月，被美国《TIME》杂志评为摄影术发明150年来世界十大摄影名人之一，其肖像被刊登在该期杂志的特刊封面上；
1989年10月荣获首届中国摄影艺术“金像奖”；
1990年在日本出版大型《长城》摄影画册；
1992年获中国政府特殊津贴；
1994年出版《天崖集》摄影画册；
1996举办《从西藏带回来的哈达》摄影展；
1997年1月编入《世界摄影史》，美国第三版修订本(A World History of PhOtography ISBN O-7892-0028-7)，书中对陈长芬的摄影有过特殊评价，认为 “陈长芬对摄影美学潜力的领会，在他的航拍的大地、日月等照片中，把现代美学观念和古老的哲学思想融合起来”。摄影作品《裂变》也同时编入其中；
1999年美国《Aperture》出版社出版纪念中华人民共和国成立50周年画册《CHINA FIFTY YEARS INSIDE THE PEOPLE沼 REPUBLIC》 《历史的墙》独幅用于扉页；
1999年6月被柯达公司聘为柯达专业摄影特使；
1999年4月美国《popular photography》杂志专题介绍陈长芬及其长城摄影作品；
1999年8月在中国美术馆举办《长城史诗陈长芬摄影展》；
2000年11月建立“陈长芬艺术馆”；

In the last 30 years，tens of Chen's works have been collected in foreign countries，and his works of the Great Wall and other themes have been demanded and adapted a number of times by magazines and other publishing organizations，such as Aperture of US，Popular Photography of Germany，The Rolls-Royce Magazine of Britain; Hasselblad Forum of Sweden，and others. There have been a significant number of news items and special reports on him from news media such as China Central Television，China Central Radio Station，Hong Kong Phoenix Television and local television stations. He also acted as judge in national，international，and many other large film festivals; lectured in tens of universities numerous times，including the MBA institute of Beijing University，Tsinghua University，several film institutes，China Central Arts and Crafts Institute. He has visited and worked in US，Sweden，former Soviet Union，Thailand，Turkey，Germany，Romania，Belgium，France，Italy，Greece，Hungary，Poland，Japan，former Czechoslovakia，Hong Kong and Macao many times.
